How to label a package correctly
It is the right label that helps your goods reach their destination on time. The label also contains the necessary information about all stages of transport and handling along the way. Using an inappropriate or damaged label can result in a delayed shipment. Now we’ll show you how to label regular packaging/packages or non-standard shaped items (pipes, cylindrical containers, etc.).
What materials are used for packaging
Usually, the package itself, plastic tape and two packaging labels are used to form the outer packaging.
How to mark a standard package?
Place the parcel in the packing bag. Also put one of the two labels inside the package. This is necessary for greater reliability – even if the outer label falls off, the transport service will be able to navigate and deliver your package to its destination.
Securely seal the bag with several layers of tape.
Attach the second label to the outside of your package. Make sure the label is not bent, is fully attached and is on the visible part of the package. The label itself must be marked according to the category of cargo and the type of shipment (dangerous or fragile cargo, urgent or courier shipment, etc.).
How to label an object of non-standard shape
If your parcel has a non-standard shape such as a pipe or cylinder, make sure the label is on the largest flat side. It is important to place the label in a place where it will be easily visible and difficult to tear off.
Pay attention! Packaging, labeling and documentation requirements may vary by carrier or destination. It is better to check these details with your postal operator.
