Tips for packing

The main task of GlobalPost is fast and careful delivery of your shipments. Shipments are processed each time they pass through GlobalPost locations around the world. To ensure your shipments arrive in the best possible condition, please use the following packing tips and useful guidelines for preparing your shipments.

Boxes

• Boxes are the most widely used and suitable way to pack your shipments because of the variety of sizes, shapes, materials and accessories that allow you to fix and protect them;
• Wooden containers are particularly suitable for sending heavy products and are suitable for mechanized handling;
• Reinforced double-layer cardboard is a suitable and cheaper alternative to wooden boxes.

Envelopes

• Use cardboard envelopes for lightweight documents;
• Use cushioned, padded or bubble envelopes to transport items such as CDs, tapes, keys and small electronic parts;
• There are also waterproof and anti-static options;
• Do not use cloth envelopes.

Issues of packaging quality

• Avoid using damaged containers or boxes;
• Always use high quality wrapping and cushioning/filling material;
• Consider the strength and reliability of the packaging you choose;
• Always remove old labels and stickers when reusing boxes;
• Re-wrap gifts as decorative wrapping is not suitable for shipping;
• Pack carefully to ensure the protection of your shipment.

Use cushioning materials to avoid disintegration of the contents

• Fragile products must be protected with cushioning material on all sides;
• Fragile flat products should be protected by partitions / pads;
• Use cushioning or protective pads to protect data disks/cassettes;
• Use strong reinforcements to protect sharp edges and ends of products;
• Use reinforced double-layer cardboard for valuable products;
• “Fragile Goods” and “Handle with Care” labels are not part of the economy packaging;
• When sending wooden boxes, make sure that the corners of the boxes are securely protected and that the boxes are not cracked
• Keep your packages in a dry place until the courier arrives.
