Insurance of parcels and documents

How much does it cost to insure parcels, documents and postal items?

We are partners of key global shipping companies and offer parcel insurance services for each of them at flexible rates from 1% to 2% of the parcel value. The insurance fee depends on the rules of each specific carrier. The total cost of parcel insurance depends on the value of the parcel or the declared value of the documents.

The value of the parcel is the amount declared by the sender when sending in the invoice.

Note: If the invoice indicates a value of 1000 UAH, then it is impossible to insure the parcel for an amount over 1000 UAH. That is, the value in the invoice and the declared value must match. Regarding document insurance, our company has a limit of 10,000 UAH per shipment.

What parcels can be insured?

We can insure parcels sent by any of the carriers on our website, but this service is not available in all countries. Details below.

Note: when sending via DPD, the insurance value cannot exceed 520 EUR.

What is my shipment insured against?

The shipment is insured against all types of risks during transportation, including partial or complete destruction or loss. Except for cases where the damage was caused by improper packaging of the shipment.

In what cases and within what period will the sender receive compensation for the parcel?

Compensation is made only in the event of loss of the parcel confirmed by the courier service, or damage during transportation, which must be documented upon receipt of the parcel by the recipient in the country of destination.

Note: delays in delivery and financial losses due to violation of delivery deadlines are not covered by insurance.

When can I receive compensation?

We pay compensation for the cost of the parcel + the cost of paid delivery after receiving confirmation from our partner about the loss of the parcel. As a rule, confirmation takes 14 to 30 days and depends on the specific carrier and its internal rules.

How to report an insurance claim?

If upon receipt of the parcel you or your recipient discover visible damage to the packaging or its contents, you should notify the courier and draw up a report on the spot, as well as take photos. Then write to us by E-Mail, indicating the shipment number, delivery date and adding photos. After that, we will register a ticket with the carrier and begin investigating the incident.

How to insure a parcel?

You can insure a parcel during the process of processing for shipment in your Personal Account or on our website. To do this, you need to click on the appropriate button and enter the estimated value (for documents). When sending a parcel, the estimated value will be automatically calculated from the value of the parcel, which is indicated in the invoice.

Note: the cost of insurance will be indicated as a separate line and added to the delivery cost.

Can I get compensation if the parcel is not insured?

We only pay compensation if the parcel is insured by the client.

Note: if the parcel is not insured, then in case of loss of the parcel we will compensate you for the shipping cost paid, or we will offer to send the parcel/documents again at the company’s expense.

Insurance Limitations

Insurance does not apply to items (including food) that were sent in violation of the packaging and transportation requirements of such goods, in particular, packaging and sealing standards, package tightness or those that required special storage conditions (heat/cold) and expiration dates. In this case, the sender is responsible for the goods (in the parcel).

Insurance is not applicable to fragile and breakable items.
Insurance does not apply to packaging (boxes, crates, pallets).
GlobalPost is not responsible for uninsured parcels.

Insurance is available for delivery to almost all countries in the world. However, parcel and cargo insurance services do not apply to countries such as:

  • Iran
  • Iraq
  • Palestine
  • North Korea
  • Eritrea
  • Oman
  • Yemen
